December 2005  Stonechip & Bonnet

I want to use the E-Type as a daily driver during the summer months so for maximum protection the underside has been etch primed and sprayed with stonechip. The stonechip was then over sprayed in body colour.

This should give some protection against our sea air environment.

The engine frames were removed so the bulkhead could be blasted. The bulkhead and frames were then sprayed in Opalescent Silver Blue and reassembled.

With a considerable amount of work the replacement wing was finally made to fit the rest of the bonnet. The bumpers will be re-chromed later but here they are being used with the old motif bar to ensure the profiles are correct.

The mudguards have been re-bonded and the bonnet sprayed with etch primer. Now that the bonnet has been straightened out several more shims are required to set the height and gaps. The next stage is to get the car to the spray shop where it will be sprayed in 2k Opalescent Silver Blue.
